Check Engine Light Diagnosis
A trouble code tells us where to start looking. It does not tell us what is wrong. We test the actual system, send you photos of what we find, and tell you straight what it will take to fix.
We call it Vehicle Testing & Evaluation, because that is what it actually is. A scan tool reads the code your vehicle stored, and that code narrows down where to look. Finding out which part, which circuit, or which condition actually set it takes testing.
Standard T&E, $139, covers concerns we can inspect and test without advanced equipment. Advanced T&E, $159, uses computers, scanners and specialized tools, and it is what most check engine lights, warning lights, electrical faults and drivability complaints need. Both include the digital inspection, with photos sent to your phone.

How a Diagnosis Actually Works
Start With What You Noticed
When does it happen, what does it sound or feel like, does it do it cold or warm. Your vehicle does not store any of that, and it is often what points us at the right test first.
Pull the Codes, Then Test
We read what the computer stored, then test the circuit or component that code points at. A code can be set by a failing sensor, by the wiring to it, or by the part it is watching. Testing tells us which.
Show You the Evidence
Photos of your own vehicle and the technician's notes go to your phone. You see what we found before you approve a single dollar of repair work.
Tell You What Comes Next
What we found, what it costs to fix, and honestly, what we do not know yet. Sometimes one fault has to be corrected before the next one shows itself. You hear that from us up front, not after.

A Code Is a Starting Point. Not a Diagnosis.
Parts do not fail because a code says so. A code tells us which circuit reported a problem, and the same code can come from a sensor, from the wiring to it, or from the part it is watching. We test to find out which one. That takes longer than reading a number and handing you a part, and it is the reason you are not back here in three weeks with the same light on.
Work You Can Check For Yourself
An ASE Master Technician on the Hard Ones
Most advanced testing goes to our Master Technician. Diagnostic work is where experience actually shows, and it is not the place to learn on your vehicle.
You See What We See
Every test includes the digital inspection. Photos of your own vehicle with the technician's notes, sent to your phone, so nothing rests on taking our word for it.
Nationwide Warranty
Qualifying repairs are backed by the NAPA AutoCare and TechNet nationwide warranty, honored across the country, not just on 4th Avenue.
